Epirus (Greek Ήπειρος Ēpeiros (Doric Greek: Ἅπειρος Apeiros), Albanian: Epir) is a geographical and historical region of the Balkan peninsula in south-eastern Europe. It is divided between Greece, which possesses around 80 percent of the region, and southern Albania whose area is equivalent to the northern part of classical Epirus (see Northern Epirus). The Greek portion of the region is incorporated as the periphery of Epirus.
